Prescription signs indicate an obligation or prohibition to road users. They can also serve as a reminder of certain legal provisions. They usually have a white, black or red background.
Danger signs warn users of the special features of the road. Their background is usually yellow.
Work signs provide information about construction or maintenance work being carried out on or near a public road. They cover the same objectives as the other three panel types, but have an orange background.
Directional signs provide users with information on routes, destinations, points of interest (tourist attractions, parks, viewpoints, etc.), distances and available services. The background of these panels is blue, green or brown.
